A stellar year for Moneyfacts Pet Insurance Star Ratings 2022

Moneyfacts is pleased to announce the Moneyfacts Annual Star Ratings 2022 for Pet Insurance.

  • For cat pet insurance there were 137 Five-Star and 33 Four-Star Ratings and for pet insurance for dogs there were 136 Five-Star and 37 Four-Star Ratings.
  • For 2022, the size of the market for both categories has remained relatively consistent as 303 cat products and 301 dog products were assessed for 2022, only slightly up on those assessed for 2021 by six and seven products respectively.
  • More than 70 fields of information per individual product were collected for the policies, with data expanded for 2022 to include further information of waiting periods before claims.

The products awarded Five or Four-Star Ratings offer the most comprehensive range of standout features and competitive charges, which set them apart from the rest of the market.

The instantly recognisable Moneyfacts badge of quality for more than 30 years helps inform consumers comparing pet insurance.

Nine out of 10 people agree that a Star Rating from an independent and impartial company could influence their decision in considering taking out a Financial Services product.* (*Source: Moneyfacts Group plc, Financial Services online consumer survey 4/21).

Hayley Hutchinson, Senior Customer Proposition and Experience Manager at MORE TH>N, said:

“After being a Moneyfacts Five-Star rated insurer for six years running, we believe that this accreditation helps to give prospective customers greater confidence that our product is of a high standard. It is a third-party endorsement, based on independent product analysis conducted by the Moneyfacts team, that provides further proof to customers that we put them and their pets at the heart of what we do.”

Samantha Owens, Star Ratings & Personal Finance Analytics Manager at Moneyfacts, said:

“With no sign that the love affair with pet ownership is abating, combined with the continuing squeeze on personal finances, ensuring these beloved pets get the best care possible for the most competitive price is even more essential. “

“Along with the emotional stress of a sick or injured pet, the costs of treatment can easily spiral, increasing the pressure on an already difficult situation. This is where insurance can protect owners from suddenly having to find these additional funds.

“With hundreds of products currently in the market for pet insurance, narrowing down the best policy for each pet can be a challenging task. The Moneyfacts Annual Star Ratings for pet insurance can take away some of this work, allowing customers to filter down to the best products within their budget knowing those with the best ratings highlight the most comprehensive products with the most competitive limits.”
