thisbank – 4-year fixed term bond

Commenting on the deal, Adam French, Head of Consumer Finance at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said:

"thisbank is now paying an inflation-busting 5.00% on its 4-year bond, a market-leading return for savers prepared to lock away their money for longer.

"One notable feature is the flexibility to make up to 11 additional payments during the first 14 days from account opening. This could prove useful for savers who want to add further funds shortly after opening the account, although investors should still consider whether a fixed-term account is appropriate for their circumstances before committing their savings."

Key product details:

  • Rate: 5.00% gross/AER paid on anniversary (must be compounded)
  • Notice/term: 4 year bond
  • Minimum opening amount: £100
  • Maximum investment amount: £500k

Tandem Bank – One Year Fixed-Term ISA Savings Account

Commenting on the deal, Adam French, Head of Consumer Finance at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said:

"Tandem Bank has increased rates across its range of Fixed Rate Cash ISAs, with its one-year option now paying 4.72% AER and moving to a joint market-leading position. This makes the account worthy of consideration for savers looking for a competitive fixed return while making use of their ISA allowance.

"Savers should nevertheless consider whether fixing their money for the full term fits with their plans before applying. The account also permits additions for 14 days from opening, which offers some useful flexibility for investors who may not be ready to commit all their intended savings immediately."

  • Notice / term: One year

Santander – Everyday Current Account

Commenting on the deal, Adam French, Head of Consumer Finance at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said:

“Santander’s new £240 switching offer could be an enticing option for customers looking for a financial boost after the summer holidays. It is one of the highest cash incentives available on a fee-free current account, while also offering an 8% AER Regular Saver.

“To qualify, customers need to pay in at least £1,500 a month, set up two household direct debits and open the Regular Saver, among other terms. Switching offers can disappear with little notice, but consumers should not feel pressured to act. The best current account will depend on individual needs, so customers should consider the overall value rather than focusing solely on the upfront incentive.

“Switching is straightforward through the Current Account Switch Service (CASS), which celebrates its 13th anniversary this month. It transfers balances and redirects standing orders and direct debits to the new account.”

Key product details:

  • Credit interest / reward: None
  • Cashback on debit card purchases: None
  • Account fee: None
  • Arranged overdraft: 39.94% APR. Subject to status
  • Opening account: Online, via its mobile app or in branch
  • Managing account: Online, via its mobile app, by phone, by post and in branch
  • Other information: Minimum applicant age 18. Eligible to open a Santander Regular Saver earning an 8.00% AER/gross (variable) interest rate, which includes a 5.00% AER bonus for the first 12 months.

To be eligible to snap up the £240 switcher offer, customers must:

  • Submit a switch request via the Current Account Switch Service on or after 1 September 2026 and before the switcher offer is withdrawn
  • Complete the full switch within 60 days of the initial switch request, including closing their external account
  • Pay in at least £1,500 to their eligible Santander account within 60 days of the initial switch request, which can be done through one or more payments
  • Set up at least two active household direct debits within 60 days of the initial switch request
  • Not have held a Santander current account on 1 January 2026, and
  • Fund a Santander Regular Saver account held in their own name with at least £200 within 60 days of requesting the switch.

Residential Mortgage

first direct – Two-year fixed-rate homemover mortgage

Commenting on the deal, Adam French, Head of Consumer Finance at Moneyfactscompare.co.uk, said:

"first direct reduced its two-year fixed-rate homemover deal at 75% loan-to-value by 0.08% to 4.66% this week. The reduction is enough to see the deal enter the Moneyfacts Best Buys, strengthening its appeal for borrowers looking to secure a new mortgage when moving home.

"The deal does carry a £490 fee, so borrowers should consider the overall cost alongside the headline rate when comparing their options. However, the inclusion of a free valuation incentive adds further value and may help this deal appeal to homemovers looking for a competitive two-year fixed period."

Key product details:

  • Rate: 4.66% fixed rate for two years
  • Product fee: £490
  • Maximum loan-to-value: 75%
  • Available to: Homemovers
  • Incentives: Free valuation
  • Flexible features: Allows overpayments
  • Lending area: Great Britain & NI.
