A stellar year for the Moneyfacts Unsecured Personal Loans Star Ratings 2026

Moneyfacts is pleased to announce the Moneyfacts Annual Star Ratings 2026 for Unsecured Personal Loans.

  • There were 14 Five-Star, five Four-Star Ratings and nine Three-Star Ratings awarded in the unsecured personal loan market for mainstream lenders.
  • For 2026, the number of loans available to new business has risen from 32 to 35.
  • Over 35 fields of information are assessed per individual product, covering access, flexibility and borrowing limits.

The products awarded Five-, Four- or Three-Star Ratings offer the most comprehensive range of standout features and competitive limits, which set them apart from the rest of the market.

Moneyfacts has been analysing data for 35 years, with the instantly recognisable Moneyfacts badge of quality helping inform consumers when comparing unsecured personal loans.

Nine out of 10 people agree that a Star Rating from an independent and impartial company could influence their decision in considering taking out a Financial Services product.* (*Source: Moneyfacts Group Plc, Financial Services online consumer survey 2/25).

Samantha Owens, Star Ratings and Personal Finance Analytics Manager at Moneyfacts, said:

“An unsecured personal loan can offer a stress-free way of consolidating higher rate debt or allow the customer to access funds for new purchases knowing they have a fixed repayment plan, giving them greater peace of mind.

“Beyond the headline rate, the highest Moneyfacts Annual Star Ratings highlight those loans which offer the most flexibility. This then allows the customer to filter down on specific needs with the ratings directing the customer to these options, should they be needed further down the line.”

Spokesperson at NatWest Group said:

“Winning the Moneyfacts maximum Five Star award for our NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Ulster Bank (UBN) personal loans in 2026 and for the sixth year running means a great deal to us. We constantly strive to provide our customers with the best possible personal loan product and experience, throughout the product lifecycle and against the backdrop of a highly competitive and ever-evolving market.

“We know the Moneyfacts assessment covers a wide range of customer focussed factors, so it is a great validation of our proposition and gives both new and existing customers confidence to take out personal loans with NatWest, RBS or UBN.”
