A stellar year for Moneyfacts Pet Insurance Star Ratings 2025

Moneyfacts is pleased to announce the Moneyfacts Annual Star Ratings 2025 for the Pet Insurance arena.

  • For cat pet insurance there were 156 Five-Star, 60 Four-Star Ratings and 63 Three-Star Ratings and for dog pet insurance there were 158 Five-Star, 58 Four-Star Ratings and 66 Three-Star Ratings.
  • The market for both categories has contracted with the number of products available for new customers decreasing year-on-year, with 25 fewer cat policies and 24 fewer dog policies available for assessment.
  • More than 75 fields of information per individual product were collected for the policies.

The products awarded Five-, Four- and Three-Star Ratings offer the most comprehensive range of standout features and competitive limits, which set them apart from the rest of the market.

Moneyfacts has been analysing data for more than 35 years, with the instantly recognisable Moneyfacts badge of quality helping inform consumers when comparing Pet Insurance products.

Nine out of 10 people agree that a Star Rating from an independent and impartial company could influence their decision in considering taking out a Financial Services product.* (*Source: Moneyfacts Group Plc, Star Ratings survey 11/2022-1/2023).

Samantha Owens, Star Ratings & Personal Finance Analytics Manager at Moneyfacts, said:

“With the pressure of the cost of living continuing, ensuring pets get the medical cover they need should the worst happen, at the most competitive premium continues to be a priority. With costs easily escalating, even in the case of straightforward treatment, pet insurance can protect the customer from a sudden bill should their pet need medical attention.

“With hundreds of products in the market offering a range of cover from the most basic accident cover to more comprehensive lifetime policies, the Moneyfacts Annual Star Ratings for pet insurance can take away some of the work. They can help the customer filter down to the best products within their price range, while still having the assurance that the products with the highest rating highlight the most comprehensive products with the most competitive limits.”
